The Group Legal & Regulatory Counsel is part of a small group of highly empowered, business oriented lawyers

Position

The Corporate Legal & Compliance team of HES International is responsible for achieving the optimal Legal position for HES Group and its business in a broad range of legal areas, ranging from commercial contracting to corporate and compliance matters, including managing support on regulatory issues for the company’s national and international operating companies.

The Group Legal & Regulatory Counsel is part of a small group of highly empowered, business oriented lawyers with broad responsibilities who enjoy working in an international, industrial and high-speed environment.

You will help to ensure that HES Group companies internationally comply with all relevant commercial and corporate legal, regulatory and permitting compliance requirements.

Specific responsibilities within the Legal & Compliance team are

  • Commercial contracting: negotiating, reviewing and drafting contracts for the group’s operations within the commercial KPI’s of the company, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Legal risk management: identifying and mitigating potential legal risks associated with the group’s activities;
  • Staying up-to-date: continuously monitoring changes in rules and regulations that might impact the group’s international operations, and advising management and business directors to take action accordingly;
  • Acquisition and renewal: ensuring all necessary permits for the group’s operations are obtained and renewed timely, such as regulatory requirements for operations, (project) construction, environment, health & safety, and data privacy;
  • Compliance monitoring: keeping up-to-date on changing regulations and ensuring the group adheres to (permit) requirements in each location they operate in;
  • Liaison with authorities: maintaining and preparing communication with relevant authorities to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth permit application processes;
  • Internal training: coordinating and conducting training sessions for employees on legal and regulatory matters relevant to their work.

You are a pro-active and high skilled Legal business advisor

Profile

You are a pro-active and high skilled Legal business advisor, with a University Degree in (Dutch) Law and about 6 to 9+ years of experience in an international business environment. Law firm experience is considered a plus, as is additional experience with regulatory/permits processes.

Working in a small and non-hierarchical team, you will need to bring a flexible and down to earth personality and the capacity to work with many internal and external stakeholders.

Detail as well as results oriented professional, who is able to operate pro-actively under stress, at all levels. Business insight to understand strategic company priorities, and a strong safety mindset following the industry’s regulatory requirements, which are non-negotiable.

You are fluent in English and Dutch.
