DLL employs over 5,000 professionals worldwide, 85 of them being lawyers. Group Legal, based in Eindhoven, hosts 15 Legal Counsels. It’s a truly positive and collaborative team that works together to mitigate risk and provide quality legal advice while always striving to be even better business partners. Due to expansion of Group Legal we are currently seeking to recruit a Legal Counsel Regulatory.

The position

The Legal Counsel Regulatory will have a cross-functional position, advising all stakeholders within the company. In this role you will use your extensive knowledge of regulatory law and regulations applicable to Dutch/ EU banks, to help DLL achieve its ambitious goals in a manner compliant with the expectations of their regulators.

As a specialist lawyer you have in-depth understanding of the Dutch and European regulations and are able to quickly make a link between the regulations and the legal structure, strategy and business of DLL Group. On a regular basis you will connect with colleagues from Rabobank – being the parent company of DLL Group – who are working in a similar role.

In this role you will (proactively) advise and update the Legal MT and other senior stakeholders on regulatory developments and trends. Furthermore you will monitor and follow up on regulatory laws and regulation applicable to DLL. You have the ability to translate regulations into concrete recommendations and actions. You will keep oversight of local regulated entities and financial licenses and interact with regulators on license matters.

This position reports to the Head of Legal Corporate and interacts on a regular basis with the Global Head of Supervisory Relations, Regulatory Adherence and Change.

If this sounds like you and you are a qualified lawyer (bachelor and master in Dutch law) with about 5-10 years proven working experience in the area of regulatory legislation, including sound knowledge of CRR/CRD, Wft and Wwft, gained at a law firm and/or as an in-house counsel at a financial institution or a regulator with being a result and solution driven, decision-making, flexible and proactive team member who thrives in an international and challenging environment, then come and join DLL.

You are strong in execution, you are able to work agile and know how to approach multiple hard deadlines. You have a self-starting approach and are able to apply the strict rules that come with financial regulation in a commercial way. A post-academic qualification (e.g. Grotius) is considered a plus, so is knowledge on privacy/GDPR.

It goes without saying that you have an international mindset, you are good at building relationships and you have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch.
