Inter IKEA Systems B.V. is the owner of the intellectual property rights in the IKEA Concept and the worldwide IKEA franchisor. The company has the responsibility to ensure that the IKEA Concept stays attractive and competitive while enabling growth and a profitable business for IKEA franchisees.
Today IKEA is present in 52 countries. All IKEA stores and other customer meeting points are operated by franchisees, with the exception of the IKEA Store in Delft, which is owned by Inter IKEA Systems B.V. There are 12 different groups of companies that own and operate IKEA customer meeting points under franchise agreements.
Inter IKEA Systems B.V. is part of Inter IKEA Group which brings together three core businesses; Franchise (headquartered in the Netherlands), Range and Supply & Industry.
The Legal Affairs & Corporate Governance department at core business Franchise in Delft provides a full range of legal service to all companies and business units within Core Business Franchise and to some other companies within the Inter IKEA Group. The team consists of 15 legal professionals of many different nationalities, backgrounds, cultures and legal expertise areas. It’s a truly positive and collaborative team that works together to mitigate risk and provide quality legal advice while always striving to be even better business partners.
As the IKEA business is growing and transforming, the legal department is expanding and now seeks to recruit al Corporate Legal Counsel.
The Corporate Legal Counsel will provide practical, business oriented legal advice to various stakeholders in Core Business Franchise with the main focus on corporate law related matters and contracts.
The main tasks for this position will be:
- drafting and reviewing corporate documents (e.g. board- and shareholder resolutions, power of attorneys, prepare documentation for shareholder/board meetings etc);
- advising on and providing legal support in acquisitions and investment related matters;
- managing corporate housekeeping of Inter IKEA Systems B.V. and its subsidiaries;
- liaising with notaries and external counsels as well as colleagues throughout the Core Business Franchise;
- advising, updating and training internal stakeholders on corporate law, monitoring upcoming and new legislation and the impact to the corporate governance of the Core Business Franchise group.
Although the primary focus of this role is on corporate law, in this position the Corporate Legal Counsel will also be assisting/supporting, working together with the team on different types of commercial contracts.

If that sounds like you and you are a qualified lawyer (LLM) with at least 4 years proven working experience in the area of Dutch corporate law, gained at a premier law firm and/or a multinational combined with being a flexible and collaborative team member who thrives in a fast pace and transforming environment, then come and join IKEA.
