Job van Hooijdonk
Job has been with Voxius since 2024. Prior to that, he worked as a lawyer at Clifford Chance, among other positions. Job studied law and business law at Leiden University. He lives in Amsterdam.
What do you focus on at Voxius?
At Voxius, I focus on Executive Search and Interim Solutions for legal roles within both corporations and law firms. My experience as a lawyer and entrepreneur helps me fully understand both the legal substance and the commercial and organizational context of a request. Clients can turn to me for the entire search process: from refining a job profile and advising on positioning, salary, and feasibility to identifying and approaching the right candidates. In doing so, I believe it’s important to look not only at the role on paper, but also at the environment in which someone will be working, the dynamics within a team, and what will be needed in the long term. I enjoy talking with candidates about their careers, ambitions, and potential next steps—even if those aren’t yet fully defined.
What part of your job gives you the most energy?
What energizes me is the personal connection with clients and candidates, and that moment when you realize a candidate and an organization are truly a good fit. I enjoy focusing not only on the resume and professional background, but also on personalities, motivations, and the chemistry between the client and the candidate. Often, that’s what ultimately makes the difference between a decent match and a great one. I like to work closely with both clients and candidates, combining a personal approach with a direct, pragmatic style. I like to move quickly, but I also believe it’s important to work meticulously, ask probing questions, and be honest about what does and doesn’t work.
What did you do before you started working at Voxius?
I began my career in 2017 as an attorney at Clifford Chance in Amsterdam. There, I worked in the M&A department and later on the Banking & Finance team. So the focus was clearly on transactions. In 2021, I founded Regreener, a company that focuses, among other things, on reforestation projects and carbon credits.
What do you do in your free time besides your work at Voxius?
In addition to my work at Voxius, I create content on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. I really enjoy it: coming up with formats, seeing what resonates with a wide audience, and trying to create something that makes people laugh or gives them something to think about. I find it fascinating how quickly you can tell online what works and what doesn’t, and how much timing, tone, and creativity make a difference. The contrast with my work at Voxius can be stark at times. One moment I’m advising a client on how to structure a legal team or fill a key position, and the next I’m at an event recording a video. It’s precisely that combination that I enjoy: two very different worlds that, ultimately, both revolve around people, communication, and a sense of what resonates.
