What do you focus on at Voxius?
I focus on the entire financial process at Voxius. This includes handling invoicing, payments, and banking matters, as well as managing accounts receivable and accounts payable. In addition, I monitor cash flow and keep track of revenue figures as well as incoming and outgoing cash flows. I also handle monthly reports, pay stubs, pensions, and insurance. Using a structured approach, I ensure that the financial records are in order and that the associated processes run smoothly.
What did you do before you started working at Voxius?
From a young age, I knew I wanted to work in finance. In a friendship book I filled out when I turned ten, I wrote that I wanted to work with numbers when I grew up. After completingmy studies (European Studies with a specialization in Economics), I started at Berk Accountants and Tax Advisors—now Baker Tilly—where I gained experience in payroll administration. After a little over a year, I made the switch to Aerosoles, a Portuguese retail company. There, I worked as a commercial financial assistant. After five years at Aerosoles, I was ready for the next step and joined Voxius as Finance Manager. This allowed me to continue my career in the direction that had appealed to me from the very beginning: finance.
What part of your job gives you the most energy?
Numbers, receipts, invoices, Excel, and Exact make me happy. I love creating an overview and making sure the finances are in order. That’s what gives me energy. I love puzzling over numbers. But for me, job satisfaction isn’t just about the numbers. My colleagues’ sense of humor, the friendly atmosphere, and the great rapport we share also give me energy every day. After 15 years, I still really enjoy working at Voxius!I alsofind the flexibility in my work very valuable. It allows me to balance my job well with my family life.
What do you do in your free time besides your work at Voxius?
Portugal holds a special place in my heart. I was born and raised in the Netherlands, but my parents are Portuguese. I’d love to spend every vacation in Portugal, enjoying the sun, the delicious food, the Portuguese way of life, and especially my family. For me, Portugal is like coming home. The spring break is an exception to that: that’s when my family wants to head for the snow. I just go along with it, even though I’m not really a fan of the cold and snow myself.
Life at home is anything but boring. With two teenagers and a preschooler, our schedule is packed with sports, school, and volunteer work, and I’m always up for extra activities, such as serving as a class parent. It’s a busy family life where planning and organizing are part of everyday life—which makes it hectic, but also fun and dynamic. And fortunately, I can easily balance all of this with my work. No two days are the same!
As soon as spring arrives and the temperatures rise, we swap the shore for the water almost every weekend. Getting on the boat, heading out, and going on fun trips—those are the moments when I really recharge. Preferably with the sun on my face and my family around me!
