To enable the Group to conduct its business legally and ethically we are looking for a General Counsel
A role with impact on the business and future of Peterson & Control Union
The position
As General Counsel, you’ll have a role with impact on it’s business and future.
- Present legal advice to the Group, including Group Management Team (GMT) and the regional teams, portfolio directors and heads of department;
- Responsible for identifying and advising RPCUG on (complex) legal issues associated with the implementation of the corporate strategy and the mitigation of identified risks;
- Responsible for ensuring that the Group is not unnecessarily exposed to claims by providing appropriate legal advice, by managing (complex) transactions;
- Facilitate and optimise global partnerships with external counsel, maximising value across each engagement;
- Review, support in the negotiation of and where applicable, draft commercial agreements in conjunction with commercial teams;
- Manage compliance in terms of existing agreements and develop a compliance process for emerging agreements;
- Facilitate and verify that relevant analysis has been undertaken within the group to evaluate risks relevant to commercial matters;
- Function as Company Secretary for STAP, GMT and in the meetings with the shareholders of the Group;
- Coordinate GDPR related legislation;
- Ensure that the legal data base is up to date;
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required provided you have the necessary training and competency levels;
- Management and leadership of a small legal team in Rotterdam.
Dutch qualified (corporate) lawyer, 12 years PQE, proven experience in international setting
The profile
- Dutch qualified lawyer with at least 12 years PQE;
- Experienced Legal Advisor with previous significant experience gained within an international industry and/or respected private practice firm;
- Previous lengthy experience in an in-house role would be preferred;
- Preferably experience with family owned companies;
- Working language is English. An extra language besides Dutch is preferred.
