Our Client
Oilinvest (Netherlands) B.V. is a major downstream industry player in Europe, with a strong heritage and a forward-looking vision. Headquartered in the Hague, Oilinvest operates across multiple countries, focusing on the import, distribution, and marketing of petroleum products and related services. The group employs approximately 1,300 people directly and deals through two major key brands: Tamoil and HEM. Oilinvest is transforming towards sustainable energy, investing in biodiesel, SAF, EV charging, hydrogen, and carbon removal.
On behalf of Oilinvest we are currently recruiting for a Senior Compliance & Legal Officer (1fte). You will be based in the Hague, home to a corporate team of 22 professionals representing 9 nationalities. This role reports to the Group Legal and Compliance Counsel (GLC).
Play a key role in shaping compliance across borders and contribute to Oilinvest’s ESG ambitions in a dynamic, multicultural environment
The Position
As Senior Compliance & Legal Officer, you will play a key role in shaping and embedding the compliance framework within this dynamic, international environment. You will work closely with the international network of compliance champions, ensuring that subsidiaries across different countries remain aligned with the central compliance program and effectively implement updates to their local programs. You will be the primary point of contact for compliance matters, collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures, contributing to the company’s ESG ambitions.
Next to shaping and embedding the compliance framework within the company, this role also includes legal support to the GLC on a wide range of legal matters.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, internal policies, and the Code of Conduct.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the compliance program, covering a broad scope of topics and policies.
- Monitor compliance risks, conduct risk assessments, and identify areas for improvement.
- Advise on corrective actions in case of compliance issues and support internal and external audits.
- Report compliance incidents and findings to the GLC.
- Develop policies and e-learnings, and deliver compliance training and awareness sessions in collaboration with international colleagues.
- Monitor and support adherence to the CSRD and collaborate with sustainability and finance teams to ensure accurate ESG disclosures.
- Support the development of internal ESG policies and reporting frameworks and integrate it into compliance activities globally.
Legal
- Review, draft and incidentally negotiate various international contracts .
- Support the GLC in preparing the shareholders and board meetings.
- Provide general legal advise to the GLC and business on various topics, including new (inter)national regulations that are essential to the company and its business.
A role for a compliance professional with legal expertise, international awareness, and the drive to help embed ESG-focused compliance across borders
The Profile
- Master’s degree in Law and at least 8-10 years of relevant experience in compliance and legal advisory roles.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including AML, sanctions, competition law. Familiarity with ESG and CSRD regulations and reporting standards.
- Experience in the energy sector or with transitional energy companies is a plus.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment; strong cultural sensitivity is essential.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in English. A good command of the Dutch language is a plus.
- Some, but not regular travelling is required.
