ASML’s Legal Department is responsible for defining and implementing ASML’s worldwide legal strategy and bears the responsibility for all ASML entities worldwide to comply with international laws and regulations, in order to minimize legal risks and to maximize legal and commercial opportunities. The Legal Department consists of a team of highly empowered, business oriented lawyers, supported by paralegals and secretaries, working across the globe and based in Europe, US and Asia.
Following the continuïng growth of ASML, we would like to get in touch with hands-on and business savvy legal counsel for the Legal Sourcing / Contracts department.
Main work areas that can be distinguished within ASML’s Legal Department are Corporate & Compliance and Contracts. The Legal Counsel will support the Legal Department’s Contracts group, with a primary focus on the major accounts for Sourcing (product and non-product related) and R&D.
As legal counsel you will be responsible for advising on, reviewing and drafting mostly high-tech related contracts, with a focus on Procurement, R&D, and Software contracts with counterparties all across the globe. Furthermore you will participate in contract negotiations, provide legal strategy advice to (internal) business clients, assist in contract-related dispute & litigation matters (worldwide) and provide assistance in special, multi-jurisdictional corporate or compliance matters. You will be a dedicated business partner in ASML’s worldwide organization. The role also involves directing international law firms that support the Corporate Legal Department in expertise matters. This role may require you to travel to the U.S. and Asia.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience as a lawyer in an international business environment, either within a law firm and/or as an in-house legal counsel;
- Superb analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate and explain legal issues to non-legal clients (often with an engineering background);
- Excellent business sense and a pragmatic approach;
- Good negotiation and drafting skills concerning a wide variety of commercial contracts;
- Multicultural and multidisciplinary experience and understanding;
- Highly motivated and pro-active professional.
