In 2010, two young developed a trading system. In 2015 they decided to scale up by expanding to new markets, and that’s how Àlber Blanc started.

Àlber Blanc works as a professional market maker in seven countries on the largest stock exchanges from Chicago to Hong Kong and are actively developing India/China and other areas. A team of more than 100 people operates from offices in Cyprus (HQ), Switzerland and the Netherlands (Haarlem).

Currently, there is a job opening for a Head of Legal, based in either the Netherlands, Switzerland or Cyprus, or working remotely.

As Head of Legal you will oversee all legal aspects of the business of Àlber Blanc

The Position

As Head of Legal you will oversee all legal aspects of the business of Àlber Blanc, ensuring compliance with (international) regulatory requirements, managing legal risks and providing legal advice to the executive team. You will be responsible for a broad variety of matters relevant to a HFT company, including corporate/M&A, tax, regulatory, compliance & ethics, drafting, reviewing, negotiating (corporate and/or financial) agreements and legal documents related to trading, borrowing, investing, liquidity provisions, derivatives, OTC deals and supplier services. Furthermore, this includes pragmatic advising on topics on financial transactions, fund structuring, investment (vehicles), and providing all company secretarial support to the (Supervisory) Board.

More specifically, you will be responsible for (amongst others):

  • monitoring legislation and regulatory environment changes and ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations, including licensing, transfer pricing, IP box regimes;
  • exploring tax planning opportunities for the corporate structure;
  • collaborating with finance and administrative teams to develop and implement internal policies for regulatory compliance;
  • supporting group’s business development by documenting relationships with international exchanges, brokers and corporate service providers;
  • identifying and managing legal risks associated with Àlber Blanc’s activities; and
  • ensuring robust corporate governance practices are in place, maintaining corporate structure while considering business needs and regulatory and tax aspects.

You will be mentoring one legal associate and managing several external consultants effectively, whilst fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

In this position you will report to the CFO (based in Switzerland) and you need to be willing and able to visit the offices in Cyprus, the Netherlands and Switzerland on regular basis.

The Profile

To be successful in this position you will be internationally focused, creative, hands-on and able to adapt traditional legal concepts to the innovative and fast moving international HFT business.

You are an experienced qualified lawyer (UK, EU, US) with at least 10+ years PQE, having worked in an international environment and having experience with corporate transactions and restructuring (M&A is a plus), fund structuring, partnership agreements and tax (related) aspects. Sufficient knowledge of securities law, financial regulations, crypto regulations and corporate governance is needed.

You are able to develop and implement compliance procedures from scratch, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and monitoring business processes for legal compliance, AML procedures and sanctions.

Proven ability to manage external consultants effectively, ensuring productive results while minimising communication time and costs.

Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills as well as a high level of ethical standards and professional integrity.

Fluency in English, professional proficiency in the Russian language is a plus.
