LyondellBasell‘s administrative headquarters are in Houston, London, Rotterdam and Hong Kong. The legal department in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, is responsible for providing in-house legal services to LyondellBasell’s operations in the EAI region (Europe, Asia, International). The legal department in Rotterdam consists of 12 in-house counsel and a vacancy has arisen for a highly motivated and business driven EU qualified Legal Counsel at its Rotterdam EAI Headquarters. The Legal Counsel reports to the Lead Counsel Operation EAI, who is also based in Rotterdam.
The Legal Counsel, EAI is responsible for handling legal cases and providing legal advice in the area of procurement and supply chain. The Legal Counsel provides such support independently and engages directly with the clients, but seeks guidance and escalates to management as appropriate depending on importance or risk profile of a specific matter. The Legal Counsel will be primary focal point within Legal Operations EAI for dedicated Supply Chain and Procurement clients based primarily in Rotterdam serving the Dutch and European operations. His/her primary responsibility will be to assist and support Supply Chain internal clients with review and approve Supply chain and Procurement related agreement (i.e. purchase, service, construction, logistic contracts), support internal clients with claims handling (i.e. demurrage), setting up RFQ/RFPs as well as dealing with customs and compliance related issues (i.e. International Logistic Representatives).
A qualified EU lawyer, preferably bar qualified (current or past) in the Netherlands or Germany with a minimum of 4 years of experience as Legal counsel or attorney at law in an international (corporate) legal department of in private practice. You have proven experience in commercial contracting and procurement, with a focus on multi-parties and multi-jurisdictions shipping, road and rail transportation, logistics contract drafting, review, negotiations and claims handling.
You are a result-driven teamplayer, with strong business sense and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced and demanding business environment. Fluency of English and a second language (preferably German or Dutch) both oral and in writing is required.
