Furthermore the Legal & Contracts team advises and supports the company on several Compliance related topics.
About the job
Your activities will focus on the capturing of a contract; the drafting, negotiation and closure. As your counterparts are all over the world, travelling will be an important aspect of the job. In the first year travelling will mainly be limited to Europe but it will become globally over time. Above, you may be the specialist within the team on certain legal topics, such as for example intellectual property, GDPR, purchasing or environmental regulations. In addition to that, giving guidance and training to the more juniors in the team will be key.
You will plan and organize your activities yourself. Often driven by the customer’s time schedule, which may change on a daily basis. Being flexible and able to continuously monitor and adapt your priorities is therefore of utmost importance. Within the Thales organization colleagues in the sales department will predominantly be the ones to team with. If a certain threshold is exceeded, colleagues from abroad will be involved too.
Thales’ German customer will be your primary focus. Not only in the capturing of contracts but in this specific context also in the execution as Thales recently won some major contracts with the German Navy.
You have a Master Degree in law and at least 8-10 years experience as a legal counsel, contracting specialist, in a multinational company or combined with experience in a law firm. You avail of up-to-date legal knowledge and enjoy sharing that knowledge to bring the Legal & Contracts team to a next level.
You have an interest to work in an international and challenging environment where you, besides the legal aspects, will need to understand also the technical, financial and commercial aspects of the contracting process in a global high-tech business.
Furthermore, you have a strong and independent personality, are solution-focused, excellent in team work, able to manage different stakeholders and can set priorities. You are client-focused, have outstanding negotiating skills and good command of Dutch and English. Because this vacancy focusses on the German customer, we also expect you to be fluent in German, both orally as in writing. Knowledge of German law is a pre. A Dutch passport is a prerequisite due to contracts with the Dutch Government that are ‘Dutch eyes only’.
An interesting job (0,8 to 1 FTE) within a nice team in an international high-tech environment, with room for and attention to personal development and personal initiative. The opportunity to grow within the organization, for instance on a technical, managerial, commercial or international level. Thales offers excellent work conditions, with 40 holidays a year, among other benefits. An open and flexible work environment where a good work-life balance is considered important. Presence at the pleasant office in Hengelo for a few days a week is required. Additionally you may also work from home.
